May Book Haul!!

Book Haul

Hello everyone! I am super late in showing you my May book haul but June has already been crazy. This is probably due to the fact that I leave for vacation tomorrow so I’m throwing this blog up pretty early in the morning. I have to wake up in four hours…eek!!! I’ll also be hopefully posting a blog on the books I took on vacation with me (let’s be real, I really wanted to take fifty and it was super hard to limit myself. A girl needs options!). Without further ado, here are the books that I added to my personal collection in May!

I feel like every month and I tell myself I won’t buy any books but then I end up buying a million. It’s a struggle guys, it really is. I’ve already bought some books in June and I keep finding myself eyeing Book Outlet every couple of days.

Amazon Purchases
Star Wars: Rebel Rising  by Beth Revis
A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas
Under Rose Tainted Skies by Louise Gornoll
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
The Never Ending Story by Michael Ende
The Dark Tower Series 1-6 by Stephen King
Stone Mattress: Nine Wicked Tales by Margaret Atwood

Book Outlet Purchases
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
The Circle by Dave Eggers
Star Wars: Heir to the Jedi by Kevin Hearne
Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay
Night of the Animals by Bill Broun
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story by Alexander Freed
Sabriel by Garth Nix
The Princess Diarist by Carrie Fisher

All of these books I bought either on Amazon or on BookOutlet. I have already read Brave New World, I read it during the first week of June and I enjoyed it. It was my first time reading it. I also have read Sabriel in the past, I read it in high school and I absolutely loved it. It’s definitely one of my favorite fantasy series and if you love fantasy and haven’t read it, I totally recommend it. I read it in these chunky mass market paperback versions so I have been re-buying them in the nicer, less chunky up to date floppy paperbacks and they’re gorgeous. I can’t wait to reread them! I’d have to say that I am most excited to read Under Rose Tainted Skies. I believe it has a main character that deals with agoraphobia which is something that I also deal with so that just made me instantly curious as to how I am going to feel about the book. Hopefully I’ll be able to get to it soon!

Oh and I also won TWO books this month which is big for me because I have never won anything in my life!

Maria Murnane, author of Bridges and Wait for the Rain had a facebook launch party for the release of Bridges and I won a copy of her book Cassidy Lane! To win it I had to post a picture of something near me that was black and I posted a picture of my Darth Vader phone case and Maria picked my picture to win! Awesome, can’t wait to read it.

Read it Forward also held a contest and I sent in an entry online just for kicks because I was sure that I wouldn’t win but I DID!!! I won Star Wars: Bloodline by Claudia Gray, which I needed since I mentioned in my previous book haul that I am (shamelessly) hoarding the Star Wars books so I can just burn through them! I am SO excited to have this book!! I can’t tell you how many times I have added it to my cart and not purchased it but now I have it! Yay!

So yeah! I wanted to post this before I left for vacay. I am going to try to post a blog about the books I took with me on vacation, hopefully I can read all of them. I’d be happy if I read half. I’m taking a few books and some graphic novels that I have been DYING to read. I have a ten hour drive in which I will be doing none of the driving so I’ll be able to hopefully slam out some wonderful books. I have been looking forward to reading all of them and I can’t wait to show them to you as well. I hope everyone has had a great beginning of June so far!

Happy Reading everyone!

April 2017 Book Haul

Book Haul (2)

April is almost over!!!! In celebration I thought I would do a book haul! It has been a LONG time since I have done a book haul on my blog or really anything outside of a blog tour book review so I wanted to go ahead and switch it up a bit. It’s definitely something I want to challenge myself to do every month now  that grad school is winding down and we are in our last few weeks of it which means *no more thesis writing* or rather, no more being behind in my thesis writing. So this haul will hopefully be the beginning of a monthly haul post for this blog and I don’t know, I just generally want to post a lot more! So brace yourself kids, you might be seeing a lot more of me. 🙂

So for the month of April I went a little crazy. Last year I put myself in a book buying ban for the latter part of the year so I guess I’m making up for lost time. It’s a combination of some really awesome books coming out and just some really really good book sales that I find super hard to resist. Without further ado, here is my April 2017 book haul.

I love a good cover and all of these are serious eye candy. Which is your favorite of these? Mine is Dark Matter. Love the contrasting colors and it just looks like a dark, gritty read. Hopefully will be getting to that one soon, I’ve heard it’s an awesome Sci-Fi read.

Star Wars: A New Dawn by John Jackson Miller
Star Wars: Tarkin by James Luceno
The Glass Casket by McCormick Templeton
American Gods (TV tie-in edition) by Neil Gaiman
By Your Side by Kasie West
The Color of Our Sky by Amita Trasi
Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde
Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire
Geekerella by Ashey Poston
Defy the Stars by Claudia Gray
A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Scwab
The Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis
Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel
Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
Star Wars: Thrawn by Timothy Zahn
Dark Matter by Blake Crouch

Whew! I’m pretty excited about all of these but I will probably end up getting to Queens of Geek and Geekerella pretty fast as I have a feeling those will be super fast, super cute reads. I’m really in the mood for that right now. I am also getting to The Color of Our Sky and American Gods in May as those are ARCs that were given to me by the publisher through TLC book tours for blog tour reviews. All in all, April was an awesome book buying month. I don’t feel guilty at all.

Bought: 14
Received from publishers: 2

What about you? Did you buy any books this month that you have been looking forward to or have you received any ARCS from publishers that you are dying to read? Have you read any of these and think I should bump any of them up to my TBR for May? Let me know!

Hope you guys had a great month. I’m looking forward to what May brings us! I’ll have a April Wrap up/May TBR post up by Monday and probably a review this weekend of the book I am currently reading!

Happy Reading everyone!

2016 Love-A-Thon: Book Spine Poetry!

The Love-a-Thon is an event dedicated to spreading positivity and love. It’s time dedicated to visiting other bloggers/Instagrammers/BookTubers, leaving a comment or two, making new friends and fostering positivity among the members of our amazing community. As in the previous years, the event will include mini challenges, Twitter chats and giveaways galore!

Hosted by: Alexa of Alexa Loves Books, Cee of The Novel Hermit, Hazel of Stay Bookish, Mel of The Daily Prophecy

Hello everyone!! I hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday. Today is a not particularly sunny Sunday here in Texas. When I opened the blinds today, it was pretty dark outside and it just felt like an overall lazy day. I’d like to say that I spent the day reading or playing games but my puppy and I, both tired from our little day of travel yesterday, stayed in bed and napped. Here are a few pictures from yesterday’s little trip. We basically wanted to ensure that our little love got to see the ocean at least once in her little life and the verdict was *drum roll*…she hated it. LOL. She was ready to go home and be back in her bed and home like ten minutes after us getting there so after a few hours at the beach we packed on up and came home. She’s apparently an introvert just like her momma ❤

So yeah, I am getting around to Love-A-Thon challenges a little late in the day but I am super excited to be posting and participating in something that has been super fun for me.

This post is for the Book Spine Poetry Challenge! The challenge is to make a poem out of the words on the spines of books. I love book spines, don’t you? Some (if not all) of them are just downright gorgeous and this was just another excuse to stand in front of my bookshelves and admire them *cough cough* I mean search through them for the challenge. :). Anyway, on to the poem I made for the Book Spine Poetry Challenge!

Dear Old Love,
Since You’ve Been Gone
These Broken Stars
Shatter Me.
Thirteen Reasons Why
Life As We Knew It

I hope that made sense and I hope that you enjoyed it just as much as I enjoyed picking the books out and creating it!

Happy Love-A-Thon!

Love-A-Thon Kick Off Questionnaire!

Happy Saturday everyone!! I am so excited to be participating in the Love-a-thon which is taking place February 20-21st.

To kick off the Love-A-Thon, here is a fun questionnaire I filled out so that you can get to know a little bit about me!

  1. What’s your name? Kristianne, but I prefer the nickname Kris. Kristianne is just way too long! (That’s me pictured abovein my favorite X-Men shirt!)
  2. Where in the world are you blogging from? Texas!
  3. How did you get into blogging in the first place? For years I maintained a personal blog on deadjournal where I shared a lot of poetry and personal ramblings. I set up a blogger account and then stumbled onto book blogging sites there and for awhile I just followed a slew of librarian and book bloggers. I decided to set one up myself to talk about life, books and becoming a librarian but it fast turned into being mainly a book blog where I review books throughout the year! I love it, it’s so much fun.
  4. How did you come up with your blog name? I had shared a picture on facebook of some Anne Rice (my favorite author) books. A friend from high school left a comment on it something akin to “I remember in high school you always had your nose in an Anne Rice book”. Thus, MsNoseinaBook was born.
  5. What genre do you read and review the most on your blog? I will literally read and review anything. I review a lot of indies. As far as genre goes, I review a lot of fantasies but lately I’ve been reviewing a good mix of genres historical fiction, memoir and fantasy. I also love reviewing graphic novels which I’ve been doing a lot more of lately.
  6. What other types of posts do you do on your blog, apart from reviews? Sometimes I’ll do life updates. I love cosplay so I even put a comic con picture page to show pics of when I cosplayed at comic con. I want to do more tags and more general life posts in the near future.
  7. Best blogging experience so far? I think just interacting with authors. I have read some really great books from some really wonderful authors, a lot of them independently published. I just love supporting people who have put their heart and soul into their work.
  8. Favorite thing about the blogging community? How supportive everyone is and how passionate everyone is for reading.
  9. Name the 5 books you’re most excited for this 2016! There are SO many but to name a few:
Cure for the Common Universe by Christian McKay Heidicker
    Eleanor by Jason Gurley
The Steep and Thorny Way by Cat Winters
    Burning by Danielle Rollins
    – and last but not least, Kill the Boy Band by Goldy Moldavsky!
  10.  Name the 5 books you want to read this 2016 that you didn’t get to in previous years!
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
You’re Never Weird on the Internet(Almost) by Felicia Day
    by Diana Gabaldan
    Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Saraj J. Maas
  11. What’s an underrated book or series that you think everyone should read? Southern Solstice by Sarah Sadler. It’s a lovely contemporary that is the perfect beach read and I just loved it and more people need to read it
  12. Which book boy or girl would be your book BFF? I think Hermione and I would great friends.
  13. Which book boy or girl would be your book boyfriend/girlfriend? It has always been Mr. Darcy and it will always be Mr. Darcy!
  14. Who would you recruit for your apocalypse squad (5 characters max)?
    – Jean Grey as Dark Phoenix from the Uncanny Xmen for sure because let’s be honest we would kick arse with her on the squad. I’m really just thinking that we will need to survive and conquer the world in the event of an apocalypse and I think with this team it could totally happen. 13801466._SY540_
    – Gandalf from the Lord of the Rings
    – Katniss from the Hunger Gamesjennifer_lawrence_as_katniss_in_hunger_game__by_shanagourmet-d6tafur
    – Darth Vader from Star Wars (is that allowed?)
    – and maybe Daken from Dark X-Men. I feel like I’m cheating going with comic book characters but I would definitely choose them.
  15. Apart from reading, what are your other hobbies or interests? I LOVE video games, that is my other passion aside from reading. If I am not reading, I am on my Xbox. I also play World of Warcraft. I love to cosplay as well.
  16. Apart from book shopping, what else do you like shopping for? Vegan Makeup and Vegan Cheese!
  17. At a party, the DJ suddenly changes the song – and it’s your What song would be playing? Liquor Store from Bruno Mars. I just never get tired of that song and I love Reggae.
  18. Pick out either a book you want turned into a film/TV show, or a film/TV show you want turned into a book. This is hard because I don’t want my favorite books to be turned into BAD movies. I would love to see The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto by Mitch Albom made into a movie. It was one of my most favorite books of last year. It’s gorgeous!
  19. What would your dream library look like? I don’t know where this is from but I want it now…please and thank  youlibrary_by_vityar83-d6l7va6

  20. Author you want to meet and sit down to tea with? Anne Rice, of course. She is LIFE.
I hope you enjoyed my answers! Now that you know a little bit about me, let’s be friends!
