About me!

Hello! Welcome to my blog! I’m Kris and have been blogging for a few years now. I am a happy wife to my awesome husband that I have been married to for five years and we have a beautiful Basenji/Pit mix dog whom is now seven years old (Nooooooo!) They are both absolutely amazing. Here’s a picture of them!

I graduated from college with an English/International Relations degree. I didn’t really know what I wanted to do for a few years so after contemplating this for a few months I decided that I want to be a Librarian. I graduated with B.S. with a Library Science concentration and this December I will be graduating with my Masters in Library and Information Science.

I love video games and reading…both of these things define me. I hope you like my blog, I’m not sure if anyone will read this but I love writing so here goes! This blog has fast become a primarily “bookish” blog where I review the books I read with little slices of my other obsessions thrown in here and there. I have been Vegan for a year and love all things Vegan…food, makeup, clothes, purses, books…anything. It’s something I am really passionate about and always learning about.

My love affair with books began long before I could make sense of the words on a page. I used to watch my mom reading, always stuck with her nose in an Anne Rice book and I always thought to myself, “What is it that she does behind that book? What is this big secret that I’m not being let in on?” as well a myriad of other questions. I learned to read rather fast and have since devoured many a book in my path! The funny thing is once I started reading at my tender age I asked my mom if I could read her Anne Rice books. She promptly told me I was too young but to ask her when I was older. Those books stayed with me until I hit high school and bought all of Anne Rice’s books with my allowance. I lost myself in them and I credit her writing for making me fall in love with reading and writing. My friends still remember that my nose was always stuck in an Anne Rice book and she remains my favorite author to this day and I’m hoping to reread all of her books later this year!

I do accept submissions from authors and publishers.  I participate in some blog tours where I  may receive an ARC of an already published or soon to be published book in exchange for an honest review.  I am completely 100% honest in my reviews. I will definitely review a book negatively if I absolutely hated the book (which really has not happened often) but even if a book isn’t for me as a whole there are probably things that I did enjoy that I will talk about in my review as well. I consider myself to be pretty easy to please as a reader because I just love a good story and appreciate the craft. These are solely my impressions of books and I AM NOT a professional reviewer, I don’t get paid to review I just do it for fun! I will read pretty much anything. I review both fiction and nonfiction – memoirs, romance, sci fi, fantasy, erotica…pretty much anything.

If you stumbled your way onto my blog, thank you so much for your visit and I hope you find something to enjoy here while I read my way through the year and devour many worlds in books!

Here’s to many, many more years of doing just that! Oh and enjoy some pictures of my family!

  4. Hi. I’m putting together a blogger contact list for Penguin and I’d love to add you to it. Can you please e-mail me? Thanks.

  5. Congratulations on becoming a vegan. I became a vegan in 1982 and have had more than 30 years of mostly pain free incredible health. I haven’t had—knock on wood—the flu or the common cold since I changed my lifestyle, and I don’t have headaches or indigestion. It’s an incredible lifestyle with amazing benefits.

    • Thank you so much! Thank you for your kind words and that’s amazing that you have been vegan for 30 years! I’ve been vegan for about one year and five months and I am absolutely in love with every aspect of veganism. I did have acid reflux before and it went away overnight. I also used to get sick every single summer and winter with a cold and lingering cough but I’m happy to say this is no longer the case! I haven’t been sick in a year and five months now! I still have a long way to go in repairing what I have done to my body when I wasn’t vegan but I feel great!!
