THE WYOMING MEN ARE BACK! IN THEIR QUEST FOR TRUE LOVE ON THE RANGE, ARE THESE RANCHERS BOLD ENOUGH TO OPEN THEIR HEARTS TO THE WOMEN UNDER THEIR PROTECTION?
Ren Colter may own an enormous ranch in Wyoming, but he scorns his wealth. He’s closed himself off since his fiancée left him months ago, so he’s shocked when he allows Meredith Grayling to stay with him. He tells himself it’s only to protect the blonde beauty from a stalker, but Ren’s alpha instincts soon kick in.
The last thing Merrie wants is a devastatingly handsome man like Ren lurking around her. He’s too experienced, too appealing for her already shot nerves. What she needs is just to get away from it all: the man haunting her waking dreams and the one hunting her like an animal. But no woman escapes this Colter cowboy!
TGIF everyone! I hope all of you had a better week than mine! Mine was super long and I am ready for the weekend to get some rest and reading in!
On this fabulous Friday I am reviewing Wyoming Brave by Diana Palmer. Thank you to TLC Book Tours, the author and HQN books for giving me the chance to be a part of the blog tour and read the book in exchange for an honest review of it.
In Wyoming Brave we follow the stories of two main characters Merrie and Ren. Merrie and Ren meet when Ren’s brother Randall offers her sanctuary on Ren’s ranch. Merrie is in hiding from a contract killer and Ren’s Ranch happens to be high security. Sparks begin to fly when Ren, who has recently been jilted by love and Merrie start spending more time together and finding out more about each other.
I was really interested to read Wyoming Brave because not only is it my first Diana Palmer book but it also my first Western Romance. I wasn’t sure what to expect because it is definitely outside of my comfort zone as I usually don’t stray from contemporary and fantasy romances. For the most part, I liked this book. I liked the story and a few of the characters. I really loved Delsey, I thought she was wonderful and I also really liked Merrie. There are things in the story that I didn’t really understand like the whole dynamic of Merrie’s family in the past with the mobsters. There were also alot of things that I personally don’t support in this book and that was difficult for me, and I’m wondering now if maybe all Western’s are like this so they may not be my cup of tea after all (use of animals for profit is an example). Again, that’s something personal to me that I see every now and then that bothers me in books. Being the completionist that I am, I had to keep going and I tried my hardest to not hold that against the book very much. But it was hard guys, it was hard.
Otherwise, I really liked Merrie’s interaction with Hurricane and how they instantly bonded because of their broken spirits. I also really liked the scenes where Ren and Merrie start to pull down their walls a bit and let each other in. I really liked their misunderstands and miscommunication sometimes, I’m a big fan of that because it reminds me of a Mr. Darcy/Elizabeth sort of dynamic. They had undeniable chemistry and I loved their romantic scenes together, especially when they find themselves leaning in or when he brushes his hand against her face. I think my favorite scene is the one where he first sees her painting of Hurricane and himself and realizes the magnitude of her talent and that he has misjudged her completely. Loved that.
3 stars for me. Although I liked this book, I don’t know that I’ll be reading very many Western Romances after this but I am always willing to give any books a read as I love to read just about anything and getting out of my comfort zone sometimes is good! Let me know if you have any recommendations on Western Romances that I may need to try. If you are interested in seeing what this book is all about, please enter the giveaway below.
