They had nothing in common until love gave them everything to lose . . .

Louisa Clark is an ordinary girl living an exceedingly ordinary life—steady boyfriend, close family—who has barely been farther afield than their tiny village. She takes a badly needed job working for ex–Master of the Universe Will Traynor, who is wheelchair bound after an accident. Will has always lived a huge life—big deals, extreme sports, worldwide travel—and now he’s pretty sure he cannot live the way he is.

Will is acerbic, moody, bossy—but Lou refuses to treat him with kid gloves, and soon his happiness means more to her than she expected. When she learns that Will has shocking plans of his own, she sets out to show him that life is still worth living.

A Love Story for this generation and perfect for fans of John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars, Me Before You brings to life two people who couldn’t have less in common—a heartbreakingly romantic novel that asks, What do you do when making the person you love happy also means breaking your own heart?

I am so late to the JoJo Moyes train. I bought Me Before You about a year ago and have had it sitting on my shelf ever since. When I heard the movie was in development I was thrilled and knew I had to move it up on my “to read” list. Since then I have been hearing great things about it and couldn’t wait to pick it up. I was in the mood for a romantic read, something light and it conveniently happened to be a read for one of the book clubs I belong to so I finally had the chance to sit down and give this book a read.

I am happy to say that I was not disappointed and it really was exactly what I needed to get myself out of my recent reading slump that March has been proving to be. This book is about a mess of a girl named Lou who loses her job and has a douchey boyfriend that she has been with for years and a family that seems to be always ragging on her. She lands a job as a caretaker for a young paraplegic man, a job that she definitely did not want in the first place but takes in an an attempt to make ends meet. It just happens to be a job that completely changes her life. And that is really all that I want to reveal to you guys about the plot because I think everyone should read this book and I don’t want to spoil it for anyone because it is so good!

This was a slow burn romance for me and I am really glad for it. I devoured this book but I also felt like I took my time with it and really fell into the story. It was beautiful, tragic and just heartbreaking. I had heard from multiple people that this book is a tearjerker and I’m a big baby so yes, I did indeed cry in multiple spots during my read of this book and there were definitely swoonworthy moments throughout the book. I just love the image of love presented here…of a love that grows and is pure and unconditional. It was so, so beautiful.

I had not yet seen the trailer for it because I didn’t want to spoil myself but once I finished the book I put that baby on and ugh, I cried during the trailer so I know that when the movie comes out I am going to be balling my eyes out. I’m going to see it with my book club so that should be fun and I’m pretty sure it’s going to be this row of people just heartbroken and sobbing. Anyway, I need to read the sequel to this book After You, because I must know what happens next. If you haven’t given this book a read and are in the mood for a contemporary romance, I definitely recommend picking this book up. Five stars from me!

If you want to see the trailer I have linked it from the MovieClips Trailers Youtube Channel. Warning: You may get a little spoiled if you see the trailer. This looks like it is going to be a pretty faithful adaptation so I am soooo excited and the casting is amazing.

I just finished watching this again and OHH MY HEART!! Anyway, I hope you all are having a wonderful week and I have some reviews coming tomorrow and this weekend as well as, an update post on some book collecting I have been doing and maybe even a book haul post and TBR post for the next few months! I hope you all have a great Thursday!!
Happy Reading Everyone!
