I know, I know….I’m a little late in posting my NaNoWriMo wrap up but this is the time of year where everything gets crazy and I inevitably fall behind in literally everything. So please excuse the late posting but I still wanted to post a wrap up.
NaNoWriMo or National Novel Writing month ended on November 30th and I have since been on a small writing break until I begin to add more and then start the revision process. I won NaNoWriMo!! That basically means I reached (I exceeded by literally a hairsbreadth) the 50k word goal challenge. I basically now have the bare bones of my very first novel. It is a contemporary romance titled “Barre” and I am extremely happy with it and proud of it. I’m also absolutely embarrassed by it just because I know my mom wants to read it and there are a few rather steamy parts in it but she’s always been my #1 supporter when it comes to my writing so I’m also eager to hear her thoughts on it. I let my sister read two lines and she was like, “Um I need to read it!” So that gives me a little bit confidence but it still definitely has a ways to go before it is finished and ready to be revealed to eyes other than my own. But yeah, I’m excited and happy with the progress I made in November! I literally started with a blank page and it’s the first time I have finished something!! I definitely think NaNoWriMo was a worthwhile, beautiful and inspiring experience and I can’t wait to return next year! I’m also proud of everyone who participated whether they ended up winning or not, it’s just great to have pushed ourselves to accomplish something whether it was 1000 words or 50,000!
I must say after this experience, I have about ten times more respect for anyone who writes a book, it’s definitely not easy! It definitely helped me to carve out an hour or two in my day that was solely devoted to writing and it helped me IMMENSELY to set daily goals for myself, it’s a method that I think will stick with me as I go forward and try to swim in the writerverse! I am currently editing my NaNoWriMo novel and also working on a poetry collection.
In other news, with next month comes a new year! 2016! I cannot believe how fast it has come! I will be making changes to my blog soon which will hopefully include a new layout and a new reviewing system. Next year I want to do more tags, monthly wrap ups, maybe even some videos and more life updates! I miss getting a little personal on here and I will be posting more pictures of my book hauls among other bookish things. I am working on posting comic con pics on here and they should be up shortly so you all can see my cosplay pics and maybe even video game reviews I have done in the past. I think it’d be cool to share with everyone a few more things that I love to do like video games and cosplay. If you are on Xbox or Instagram let me know and we can be friends 🙂
I am currently behind in my reviews but I am working hard to catch up! For some reason the month of November just spiraled out of control for me (ahem…NaNoWriMo) and I fell into a reading slump and then I fell behind! With the new year also comes my ability to buy books again as I was on a book buying ban for the latter part of the year which was not fun even though I managed to acquire a few books toward the end of November due to my sneaky convincing of my husband to take advantage of Black Friday sales. Those 30% off Barnes and Noble coupons get me every time. I know I’m in good company though. Anyway, I just wanted to post a few updates! Also, I’ll be posting the 2015 End of the Year Book Survey pretty soon but I am still reading as many books as I can these next few weeks! I am currently sitting at 100 books read on my Goodreads Challenge so yay, I met my goal!
I will be posting reviews steadily throughout the next few weeks and if you haven’t already, be sure to check out the last few reviews I have posted. It has been a great reading month so far.
Anyway, I thought I’d include a picture of my Christmas tree this year. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. Every year I want a themed Christmas tree…we had a winter wonderland tree one year and everything was silver and blue. This year for some reason I got it in my head that I wanted Mardi Gras colors for our tree and my poor husband just goes along with everything I say lol. So yeah, we have a pretty crazy tree this year thanks to me. (Also sorry about the wall decoration, the tree is standing in front of my energy sword which, if you game, is from Halo. That is the very rough beginning of what will soon be our Halo wall).
Stay safe and happy holidays everyone!!!
