Happy Friday!!! I hope everyone had a great week and is gearing up for a wonderful Halloween weekend! Today I am excited to share with you my review of The Road to Ataco by Belinda Bennett. I want to send a huge thank you to the author for giving me the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review!
The Road to Ataco is a novella about author Charity Chalmers whom in the throes of extreme writers block and publisher deadlines, takes a holiday to beautiful El Salvador. Underneath the beauty of this vacation/tourist spot lies a dark side burgeoning with gang activity and tourist kidnappings. All too trusting and naive, Charity soon finds herself at the very center of the darker side of this destination spot.
I really enjoyed The Road to Ataco, it is probably my most favorite novella that I have read this year. It was a very fast read, I believe it can be read in an hour as it is really fast paced which I liked. It is a mystery/thriller so it kept me on the edge of my seat for the main character and the predicament she finds herself in. I feel like it’s also part cautionary tale for people who desire to travel to be vigilant. The writing and the plot were both so good that I almost wish this novella were longer! Everything Charity went through was pretty detailed , moreso than I would have expected in a novella and I really liked that. The writing was believable and the characters were believable and there was even a tiny bit of romance in this story. I don’t know if anyone else would have thought the ending a bit cheesy but I really liked it.
I ended up giving this novella a four star review as I really liked it and enjoyed it and I think other’s will enjoy it just as much. If you are a fan of suspense and thrillers, check this novella out. It is fast paced, thrilling and a really fast read.
