Good morning everyone! Today I’m happy to share with you my review of The Bali Mystery by Linda Weaver Clark! I’d like to send a big thank you to the author for giving me the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review! This is actually a unique review as it is he first audiobook review copy I have received to date! As you know since I have featured a few audiobook reviews on my blog as of late I am increasingly becoming a fan of audiobooks so I was excited to listen to this one!

In The Bali Mystery we follow a detective named Amelia and her sexy assistant Rick on a case to find a missing person that has disappeared under suspicious circumstances. They follow a lead to Bali and find themselves in the middle of a dangerous situation. It’s dangerous for two reasons, the fact that they are putting their lives (and others) in danger but also the fact that they are both increasingly attracted to each other!

I had a lot of fun listening to this story on audiobook. I am sure I would have liked it equally had I read a physical copy. I loved the narrator of the audiobook I thought her voice was pleasant and loved how she acted out the various character voices.

The story itself was pretty interesting. I liked the two main characters, Amelia and Rick, a lot. I really liked the descriptions of Rick. It was pretty obvious that he was your typical sexy lead in a romance type novel albeit a little cheesy but I think that made him more enjoyable actually. I am a big Amelia fan. I love that she’s strong, stubborn snd independent. I love that she’s take charge and opinionated and she was a really good, convincing detective. I love that she is a female detective in a predominantly male profession and that she commands respect and get it. Her sassiness was also a lot of fun and I loved all the tension and sassy back and forth with Rick. The descriptions of Rick and her feelings toward him were sometimes pretty cheesy as they sometimes are in romance novels but they were really fun. It was really inevitable that get together at some point but it was really entertaining to see them banter back and forth.

I ended up giving this book a 4 out of 5 star rating because it was so enjoyable. The romance was fun and the plot itself was pretty fast paced and entertaining. I would enjoy reading more from this author or even more of Amelia and Rick. My experience with his audiobook was definitely a pleasant one and it went by a lot quicker than what I expected. Fans of both the romance genre and detective stories may enjoy this book. I found it to be fun, humorous and romantic.

  2. Thank you so much, Kristianne, for a wonderful review. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your thoughts about The Bali Mystery, the narrator, and the characters. As for the characters… Rick sort of reminded me of my father with his muscular build. (Being a farmer made him buff and he would often flex his biceps for us kids, just to make us laugh.) And Amelia? I totally loved Amelia’s spunk. Her spunk reminded me of my mother who had enough spunk to keep my father’s interest.
