Ishitar is born on the cusp of a great war between the two ruling Gods of the Heavens and Hells Realms. With his father in control of a repressive society and his mother fighting for free will for all, he believes the game that they play to be just that: a game. Little does he know that the players that he sees are not necessarily the ones who will influence the outcome.
Welcome to my stop on the blog tour for The Scribing of Ishitar! I received a review copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
I loved this book! Everything about it was captivating for me! First I’d like to talk about the cover. Are you kidding me??! This book cover is awesome! I know a book’s cover shouldn’t play a part in your wanting to read the book but let’s face it, we are visual creatures and this cover is one of those that instantly captivates you and is just too tempting and interesting a cover for me not to immediately want to read the book.
That aside, once I actually started reading the book I was done for, I loved this book. The writing is beautiful and so detailed, something I definitely expect from the epic fantasy genre. When I say that this book is detailed, do not take that for granted, this is probably one of the most detailed books that I have read in awhile and can get confusing pretty fast if the reader is not giving all of their attention to the story. There are ALOT of characters in this book that each have some very interesting stories and backgrounds but what I thought was really interesting was their relationships with all the other characters.
This story was a pretty unique spin on the biblical “creation” stories that we become familiar with at a young age. It’s sort of the unexplored behind the scenes story. It was so imaginative, dark and sensual…literally impossible for me to put down. The story and it’s characters had me completely engrossed and it’s such a dramatic story right from the start. As I was reading it I found myself making connections between the stories and angels that I am already familiar with and it was just interesting to see the pieces of their stories come together in ways that I could never have imagined. I don’t know about you but I have always been so interested in the angels and the events of the “fall from grace” and this book gives a pretty tempting and unique perspective on these events and was just captivating for me. So interesting! It’s hard for me to choose a favorite character because there are so many great and interesting characters presented to us in this story, some whose stories are so tragic and compelling but I think my favorite character so far is Loki although Ishitar is definitely a close second.
Having started this series, I am DYING to read the next book! I recommend giving this series a read and am going to help you out on that front because I have 20 ebook copies to give away so leave a comment! You won’t be disappointed!
