A fiery comet, like a terrible prophecy, brands the heavens as the Game of Thrones continues to be waged in the second book of the A Song of Fire and Ice Series: A Clash of Kings. Since the death of King Robert Baratheon and his hand Lord Eddard Stark of Winterfell, the kingdom of Westeros has been plagued with treachery, chaos, and war. Four “Kings” emerge, each laying claim to the Iron Throne resulting in war and surprising alliances, a house is betrayed, and dragon wings stir the air once again. After the nasty battles and wars that are fought across Westeros as the kings and houses clash, who will remain standing and live to fight another day?

Once again, I am blown away by another book in this series. This series is fast becoming one of my top favorites of all time and is also becoming somewhat of an obsession of mine. A lot of this book deals with the wars and battles, the CLASHES if you will, that are fought throughout the story whether it be on the battlefield, subtly in the shadows, or the internal struggles of the characters. It is appropriate (because of the title) that this book is littered with war, war, war. I love it. There is tons of action, the descriptions of the battles are breathtaking it’s like you’re there breathing in the scent of death and watching the flames of wildfire engulf everything in its path.

One thing I absolutely love about these books is that they are written from the multiple perspectives of the characters that decorate the story. I enjoy getting to experience the story from all these unique perspectives, there is just something so special about that. The voices of each character are so distinct. I love these books so much that I can’t even find the words to describe how awesome they are.

This book is definitely entertaining and intriguing. There is so much betrayal, drama, heartbreak, lust, sadness, suspense, horror, happiness…just everything rolled into this one book. In my opinion it’s over nine hundred pages of yummy goodness…who doesn’t like that? If you haven’t read any of the Game of Thrones books yet, you must!!! They are absolutely epic! Once again because of it’s girth and my not-so-profuse amount of reading time, I was set back in my reading/blogging adventures but I don’t even care because it was well worth it!! Highly recommend, it will not disappoint!!

  1. This is my favourite book of the series so far (need to get back to it!) I was hooked. Unlike GOT I never once felt its length and every pov was interesting. Truly an epic. Great review!

    • I have to agree with you, although GoT was still so good, this one was the better book! Loved all the action!! I think maybe its because we’re getting even more immersed into that world in this book!! Such a great book, thanks for reading my review!!!

  2. Thanks for this review!

I was wondering how the books stacked up against the show, I figured they would be good…Most of the time the books are better then the movies or shows.

I can’t wait to start reading this series, Thank you for your hard work…I now can certainly buy the books without anymore doubt or questions haha!!!

  3. Thanks for reading my review!! You will LOVE it!! I will say the books are WAY better than the show even though the show itself is amazing. There’s just more detail. I’d have to say that the first book is really close to the show but the second is a little different and has tons more! Let me know what you think when you start reading them. How did you like the last episode? AHHHH I got chills when I was watching the Dany scene! I always feel like when I review these books I can never do them justice!
