Amelia Hayes is fifteen and has just landed her first job working at Coles, a grocery store that she has dubbed, The Land of Dreams. In the midst of juggling her friendships, homework, family issues, and work Amelia finds herself head over heels in love with Chris, her handsome and eternally funny co-worker. The problem is that Chris is twenty-two, a college student and still heartbroken and pining for his ex. The story is about a young girls first love and the hope/promise of tomorrow.

I really wanted to love this story. I was super excited to read this and have had this on my wish list since I ran into this on the “Coming Soon” page on Barnes and Nobles website and thought since Valentines Day was right around the corner I should read a book having to do with romance. I gave this book a 2 out of five which means I thought the book was okay. I didn’t love the story but that’s not to say that there weren’t things I didn’t like about it, because there were things I did like about it. It has also gotten a lot of positive reviews on Goodreads as well so I feel like a lot of people will definitely like this if they gave it a try, it just wasn’t for me. I didn’t really start getting into this book until about page 170. I really like the format of the book and the way the story was delivered to us. We actually get the story from the perspective of both Amelia and her love interest Chris which was interesting. They both read like Journal entries which is great I love books that read this way, I think it just makes the story seem so much more personal to me. The story was also definitely relatable I mean I like a lot of young women probably thought I was in love with about ten older guys in my younger days before I knew better. It is a sweet story but it didn’t really do it for me. I think I was looking for some sort of resolution between them instead of his just going away. I do have to mention that I absolutely love the cover of this book, it is the first thing that attracted me. I think it is absolutely beautiful. Has anyone read this book and loved it? It’s a really light read at 248 pages and I think fans of YA contemporary romance may enjoy this book!

  1. I know! I was excited to read this because I had fallen in love with the cover. It sort of reminds me of the cover for “The Statistical Probability of Falling in Love” by Jennifer E. Smith which was a book I absolutely loved! Thank you for stopping by!
